Hi,

Thanks for writing to us.

The Vostro 270 slim tower supports 220w PSU (tested). A 300w PSU is for 270M (minitower).

Though we have seen few of our customers upgrading the PSU which are not compatible by the machines (different models) and they worked, but for few it risked the motherboard.

The recommended power supply wattage is 300, but that doesn't mean you need 300.

The only test I could find pegged total system wattage at high load at under 100 watts, and that was with a quad-core CPU. I think you can get away with your current power supply.

You should be able to install the graphics card without upgrading your power supply.

Physical Parameters are just as important as power.  This is why I said NO it wont fit.  Even Mini towers have issues with cards that are more than 1 slot wide.

Some get around this by hacking the case.

You have to literally hack the case and drive carrier to get other cards to fit.  VERY FEW cards fit in smaller cases due to this constraint.  There is a 25w limit for the smaller cases. This limit is absolutely on the SFF model because the Power supply is 220w.    All models can only use 1 slot wide cards. The tower can use cards with thicker heatsink but they cannot exceed 8 inches long when they have tall fans.

2011 Low Profile Gaming Graphics Card - Brian's Ski Epic

DESKTOP AND SFF WILL HIT THE HARD DRIVE BRACKET AND NOT GO IN WHEN A THICK HEATSINK IS ON THE CARD.

The SKI epic solution was to DREMEL OFF THE HARD DRIVE CASE and use tape to hold the drive in.
