Help with rear speaker using WL6000?
I can't get the rear speaker to make a sound.
Is there some setup that is supposed to be done to enable this?
There is practically no instructions with this set of speakers. Normally, speakers are so simple simpleton can do it but this must be more than I can handle.
I have played around with the connect button as much as I can figure but to no affect.
I can get the light to come on and blink without any sound coming out.
After a little bit of time the light goes out....
The distance between the rear speaker and my computer with the others speakers is less than 8 feet.
BTW, what methods is the wireless 5.8 ghz signal using. RF? Where does this come from in the system? The Sub or the front center speaker? As I said there is little to nothing about these in the package about these speakers.
I took delivery of my new XPS 210 and these speakers a couple of days ago.
I just got an email from someone who pointed me to a link concerning the SB software. Well that link does not show the same interface that is on the XPS 210 so that I could follow wiring diagram to plug in the speakers. I guess the XPS 210 does not have documentation yet for these speakers.

Last night just before bed, I look again at the manual and checked out my rear plugs setup. I had that read plug plugged into the line in. Moving it over one space to the right one sure works...
Now for that 44.1 thing that I mentioned in another thread!

Go into Control Panel, click Hardware and Sound, then under the Sound category click Manage Audio Devices.
Here I imagine the settings are a bit different depending on your sound card (my system has only the integrated sound) but I clicked on Speakers/Headphones, then clicked the Configure button at the bottom. Here, change the audio channel from Stereo to 5.1 Surround, and then use the test function to check all the speakers. By doing this, I got the rear speaker to work.
Good luck!

I solved this today by changing the settings on the PC. I have been toiling over this for ages.
I use Windows Vista and went into the sound menu on the Playback tab I selected speakers, then I opened it or went to the properties.
There I clicked on Enhancements, Ticked three of the boxes that say, Bass Management, Speaker Fill and Loudness Equalization.
I clicked ok and it seems to work fine. When there's a tune that doesn't have 5.1 or Dobly built in it just flashes blue. but when there is 5.1 present is stays on.
Hope this helps others.
