How To Get Audio on Optiplex 760
I can find no audio on our Optiplex 760 running win7 32 bit.
Currently I'm using a usb 'guitar link' thing to provide headphone sound.
That's the only way I have found to do it.
Found what looked like a good clue on Dell's site: install ADI 198x Integrated HD Audio Driver and I did that. And it made something happen - that Max Audio thing came up asking about retasking the rear ports. For line in or something.
But that was all. No help really. Still no audio.
Can anyone help?
Perhaps there's a special resource on the web the deals just with audio problems like this?

Left click on the sound icon and click" Troubleshoot sound problems" see if that fixes it.

Hi abrogard,
You can find an audio troubleshooting guide here:
www.dell.com/.../how-to-troubleshoot-and-resolve-a-no-audio-issue-with-a-dell-desktop-pc
The Optiplex 760 didn't ship with internal speakers unless specifically requested when ordered. You can check their physical location here:

Soundmax Audio ESP control panel will not auto detect anything without the OEM driver. The Generic AD198X driver does not work.
The internal Business speaker option also does not work without the OEM driver.
