You can access the System Setup by pressing F2 on start-up. You will see Main, Advanced, Boot, Power, Security and Exit Options on the top of the System Setup Screen. Select the Boot Option using your keyboard. On the Boot Option page you can change the boot menu options.
Alternately, you may also bring up a one-time boot menu by pressing F12 on start-up. The one-time boot menu contains the following options:
Hard Drive Optical Drive Enter Setup Diagnostics (Starts the ePSA diagnostics)
You can select the CD/DVD drive and hit enter to boot from CD.
Let me know if further help is needed.

This does not work on a newer computer with a dynamic boot menu that lists all currently available options.
Windows 8 has a backwards method of booting to a boot disk in the optical drive. PC Settings, General, Advanced Startup, reboot and select the from the boot options menu. However--wipedrive cd should not be used to format the drive. The windows 8 recovery options must be used to format and do a clean install. Go to PC Settings, General, Remove Everything and reinstall windows. That will return the computer to factory settings.
Can it be used on a windows 8 drive? I don't know anything about it so I can't say if it will work and preserve windows files. Remember that Win 8 reinstall disks don't come with new computers now. Make a repair boot disk in case you run into trouble. Win 8 computers usually come with Secure Boot so you might not be able to use the wipedrive cd. I would research this further before doing anything. Remove and reinstall does reformat the C drive.
Have you used all available tools to clean up the drive? Try reading and posting in the Virus Forum.
I have to get rid of all those nasty viruses infecting my computer. Can't see why I can't use my WipeDrive CD. It does an excellent job in cleaning out the hard drive and getting rid of all those viruses.

When the Dell logo appears, press the key to load the Boot Menu.
If the menu does not appear, restart the system and tap several times at the Dell logo screen.
When the Boot Menu appears, highlight the CD/DVD drive (listed as "CDROM", "CD/DVD" or "CD/DVD/CD-RW") entry from the list and press .
