ok,, heres the simple fix.
 
boot from cd to windows installation, format the Drive thats going to be your New C drive,
 
Turn Off PC, Restart PC.
 
you should now find the drive as C:
 
you can do all other changes in Disk managment after, as you will probaly want to change the dvd/cd drive letters, do this before you install any other software..
 
Or. :smileyvery-happy:
 
open case, and unplug card read cable form the mainboard. install windows, and plug Card reader back in.

Thanks for the help! i see you own a xps 710 as well.. so let me hit you with this..
 
is up with this machine and windows vista? I bought a ultimate edition and when I install it bluescreens the out of me, even when it is installed.... where can I get the hard drive raid drivers it needs?
