How do I reprogram the Hotkeys on my Dell Wireless Keyboard?

How do I access the utility to change the Hotkey functions on my Dell Wireless Keyboard? Everything works fine except I don't use Outlook for my mail service and want to change the Hotkey to call up the correct mail service when pressed. There must be a way to reprogram the Hotkeys.

I think what you need to do and correct me if you have done this already is, set your email client to be the default anytime you use that Hotkey, or just clicking on the icon. I'm assuming that you are using XP, so I"ll run through the steps for that procedure.

1) Click on start and if you see "Set programs Access and Defaults", click on that. If not, it should be in the "All Programs List."

2)Once the "Set Programs... box comes up, select "Set Programs Access... on the left side of that box.

3)Select custom, then go to the right side of that box and click on the arrow.

4) Scroll down until you get to "Choose a default email program".

5) Select the email client of your choice, then click "Okay."

If this does, or does not work, or have already done this, please let us know. The HotKeys should work for any email client or browser as long as it is the "Default." For example, I use the Firefox browser and when I click the "Home" Hotkey on the keyboard, it opens up, not Internet Explorer.

Dartpro - Thanks for the info. I did as you suggested but did not see a way to have the Hotkey take me to Hotmail, only Outlook Express or AOL. You seem to have found a way to get it to take you to Firefox. How did you get that to be a selection?

What you are probably going to have to do is, use Outlook Express as your email client. The reason for this is, Hotmail is not an email client in itself. You should be able to run the wizard for Outlook Express and join your Hotmail into Outlook Express. Then use the "Set Programs"... that we discussed earlier to make sure Outlook Express is set as your default email client. Should you have any problems getting to, or running the wizard, try consulting your internet service provider, or some online tutorials. Or, just post back here again. Good luck and let me know the results.

This is a continuation of the previous post I made. You asked how I got Firefox to come up using the Hotkey. I did that by way of the "Set Programs"... that we discussed earlier. As long as a program is defined as your default, then it should come up using a programed button, or feature. Your situation with Hotmail is a little different, hence why you will have to integrate it with Outlook Express. Again, good luck!
