How to connect a two cable USB external drive to 8700 XPS
I am setting up my new (awesome) Dell XPS 8700 computer. One of my old external drives has a USB data and a USB power cables. I have tried all kinds of combinations of these cables in all the USB ports on the new computer without any luck. It does not recognize the device. I have no software with the drive. My old Dell had no problem recognizing the devise and assigned an appropriate driver to it.
What should I do?

Hi mdietz39,
Please reply us with device manager snapshot when the external hard drive is connected to the system so that I can check assist you further. Also, I would suggest you to update the BIOS on the computer to fix the issue. Please enter your service tag # on the link below, select the OS, then download the BIOS from BIOS section onto the system and install it.
