I can't uninstall/remove programs!

I am having a really hard time deleting programs that I don't use anymore, such as Limewire, AOL, etc. I will click on the program and select "remove program" from the add/remove menu, and nothing happens.
ALSO
My Norton Antivirus program will not uninstall...it says that I have to be logged on Norton with security access to remove the program. This is so frustrating, please help. :)

You are probably not logged on as the administrator.  You probably have a limited account, which does not allow you to uninstall/install stuff. 
 
Are you the only one with an account on the system?

I am not really sure. My dad bought the program from Staples or something like that. He installed all of the programs on me and my sisters' computers. Does that help at all?
