I have XPS 8700 with internal high-def 7.1 audio with Waves Maxx Audio
When I click on my sound properties in the control panel, it says I have realtek speakers. I'm not sure what those are? I am using a sub woofer with 6 speakers.
Here's my problem. I'm using Roxio Creator NXT 2013 software. I'm trying to use the capture audio from sound card function. When I click on the Roxio capture from tab, it shows me "speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio)" When I select it, I get this error message... could not open sound device (speakers Realtek High Definition Audio) Then a few seconds later...Roxio East Capture has stopped working.
I can't change the speakers to record from sound card. How can I get around this?
My sound card is on the mother board,

Hi Jlsohio,
Realtek is your audio adapter, not speakers. I've shown an example from my laptop below. Conexant is the audio adapter, and it's set to play through the speakers. You need to locate the audio input for capture.

I'm not sure how to paste my control panel image in this post like you did, but where your image reads "Conexant 20672 Smart Audio HD" mine reads
Realtek High Definition Audio

Maybe I don't have my sub woofer and speakers hooked up correctly?
I have (3) RCA jacks coming from the sub woofer: black, yellow green.
I have (6) jacks on my XPS8700: blue, green, pink, orange, black, gray.
How should they be connected?
Thank you.

I suspect you mean mini plug, not RCA, right?
What model are your speakers?
