Inspiron 3050 memory upgrade

I want to upgrade the memory in my Inspiron 3050 from 2GB to 8GB.

I have tried two different DIMMS:

1.) Kingston Technology 8GB 1600MHz PC3-12800 1.35V SODIMM Memory for Select Dell Notebooks KTD-L3CL/8G

2.) Kingston Technology 8GB 1600MHz DDR3L (PC3-12800) 1.35V Non-ECC CL11 SODIMM Intel Laptop Memory KVR16LS11/8

After installation of either DIMM the system will not boot. The power light flashes amber and it does not post video. I know that you need to go the BIOS and reset the memory to 8GB but my system won't post video so there's no way to get there.Any idea what is happening? The memory

Any idea what is happening?

The memory dimm is firmly in the slot. When I remove the upgrade DIMM and replace the factory DIMM the system boots as normal.

The specifications say 8GB DIMMS are supported in the 3050. My system has a Intel Celeron Processor J1800 (1M Cache, up to 2.58 GHz).

I'm sure I'm missing something.

Thanks for the help.

http://www.crucial.com/ for the guaranteed to work Dell memory--Not to exceed Dell's limits for your exact configuration. No need to change bios settings. Memory is automatically recognized. IMO this micro desktop should be used as is for only basic tasks and save your upgrade money for your main desktop or laptop.
