I have a Dell Inspiron 530s Svc Tag < ADMIN NOTE : Service tag removed per privacy policy > with a

Intel Celeron processor 430
Intel Celeron Processor 420 (1.6 GHz, 800 FSB)
Intel Pentium Dual-Core 2140 (1.6 GHz, 800 MHz FSB)
Intel Pentium Dual-Core 2160 (1.8 GHz, 800 MHz FSB)
Intel Pentium Dual-Core E5200(2.5 GHz, 800 MHz FSB)
Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 (1.8 GHz, 800 MHz FSB)
Intel Core 2 Duo E4400 (2.0 GHz, 800 MHz FSB)
Intel Core 2 Duo E6320 (1.86 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB)
Intel Core 2 Duo E6420 (2.13 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB)
Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 (2.33 GHz, 1333 MHz FSB)
Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 (2.66 GHz, 1333 MHz FSB)
Intel Core 2 Duo E7300 (2.66 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB)
Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 (2.80 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB)
Wolfdale Core 2 Duo, E8400, 3.0GHz, 6MB, 1333FSB, 65W, E0
Wolfdale Core 2 Duo, E8500, 3.16GHz, 6MB, 1333FSB, 65W, C0
Wolfdale Core 2 Duo E8500 (3.16 GHz, 1333 MHz FSB)
Wolfdale Dual Core Kit, E8600, 3.33GHz, 6MB, 1333FSB, 65W, E0

Also, the Intel Pentium E6500 2.93 GHz dual core processor.

Prior to installing the processor you need to check that you have BIOS Version 1.0.15, or higher, when support for new Intel CPU's was added.

Note: Core 2 Quad processors are not supported by the Inspiron 530S [Slimline]

hello SHESAGORDIE, I have a quick question for you, am I correct to assume that if I have the Dell Inspiron 530 with a ORY007 motherboard and  BIOS Version 1.0.18 ,.. I can upgrade to a Wolfdale  Core 2 Duo , E8600, 3.33GHz?  I have just upgraded BIOS directly to the Version 1.0.18 bypassing  all the other bios updates including 1.0.15, so will I still get all the enhancements of the previous Bios updates?

thanks in advance!

Yes, on the Wolfdale  Core 2 Duo, E8600, 3.33GHz

Also Yes,  on the BIOS 1.0.18 enhancements.

Are you certain that you have an Inspiron 530s [Slimline] computer?

The Inspiron 530s version were never sold with a Core 2 Quad processor by Dell, only the Inspiron 530 Mini Tower version were sold with Core 2 Quad CPUs, as they require a different PSU and motherboard than were factory installed in the Slimline versions?

Bev,

If you have time, could you please tell what what changes/upgrades I would have to make to my PC to upgrade to a Core Duo processor? (aside from installing the new processor ship itself). My bios is current for accepting this kind of chip. THANK you!

As you already have BIOS Version: 1.0.15 installed, you should be fine to upgrade to any compatible Core 2 Duo/Pentium Dual-Core processor.

Thank you!

I've replaced/installed just about everything in a PC except the processor, so this will be a first.

Good luck.

I upgraded my Inspiron 530 MT with a Core 2 Duo E8400 without any issues.

I also hava a Dell 530S,within the FoxConn G33 motherboard. I am wondering whether I can use E8600 because my computer rated power is 250W. Is this enough for me to use E8600?
