Inspiron 620 GPU upgrade Problem
Hi,
I have an Inspiron 620 desktop that I got from Dell that has the following specs:
Motherboard: GDG8Y
CPU: i5-2320
PSU: 500w (not stock)
Prev. GPU: Nvidia Geforce GT 530
Current GPU: Gigabyte RX 480 8GB G1 Gaming
I tried installing my GPU into the proper PCI-E slot and plugged in the 8-pin power cable. I turned it on and the fans started and the lights lit up, however, the card wasn't displaying anything; no display was coming from the GPU. I made sure the display cable was plugged into the GPU not the motherboard, I reset the CMOS and that didn't do anything, I tried to disable integrated graphics through the device manager after disconnecting the GPU, and finally I tried using my previous GPU to make sure that the PCI-E slot still worked and it did. I also made sure I uninstalled all the previous drivers.
If anyone can help me, it would be greatly appreciated and I can happily play my games at ultra settings.

Hi nickkulp99,
Thanks for posting.
Have you disabled the igpu in your bios?

I cannot find that option in the bios. My bios doesn't have a lot of options and I've searched everywhere for it.

Have you checked the specifications?

What about the specifications do you mean? If you mean the PCI-E x16 slot being 3.0 on the card and 2.0 on the motherboard, isn't it backwards compatible?

What I meant was to check the Support Tab and see if your system matches the specifications required by the card. http://dell.to/2lunNbl

try this...put in the GPU but connect the display on the motherboard and not the GPU. then install the drivers for the GPU and restart your PC. after it has booted, type dxdiag in the search and press enter. when dxdiag opens click on the display tab and check if the GPU is listed there. if it is then you can shut down your PC and connect the display to the GPU. if not then it could be that the GPU is not compatible with the PC.
