Install BIOS update A21 on Optiplex 755 with XP Pro SP3?
Should I install BIOS update A21 on my Dell Optiplex 755 running Win XP Pro SP3?
I ask because BIOS A21 appears in the support.dell.com list for "ALL related drivers for your product" and NOT in the list for "Filtered driver results for your service tag".
According to the Dell support web site, this BIOS update does the following: "Fixes & Enhancements -- Intel delivery updates for SINIT/ACM". So, what is that? (Dell's explanations are always like this - useless abbreviated meaningless jargon.)
My current BIOS is A20. (FWIW, A20 is also NOT in the list "Filtered driver results for your service tag", which shows only A19.)
What do you think?

Hi glnz,
The upgrade option for BIOS A21 is available but to check if it will make a difference to your computer I would require the system service tag by private message.
I have added you as a friend. Please accept my friend request by clicking on my name highlighted in blue and then click on “Friends” tab at the top and then click on “Request to Review” and finally click on “Accept” button.
I am sending you a private message as well. Click on “Inbox” to respond to the message and provide system’s Service Tag and contact details so I may access your system records and check for further course of action. You could also click on Start Conversation to send a private message.

Hi Kiran,
Please can you help me. I am trying to update the bios on my mini Dell Optiplex 755. It is currently version A04 and I have noticed that there is a version A21.
I have downloaded the bios file but cannot find any utility to update it on the dell website. Do you know what it is called and where I can download it from?
MANY THANKS IN ADVANCED! :)
Dominic

You run it from a Windows command prompt as an administrator.

Hi DomJacksonUK,
I believe you have already downloaded the A21 version of BIOS. I would still recommend you to use the below link:
http://dell.to/VuHETF
Then open this folder and right click on the .exe file and click on run as administrator.

Izibia - FWIW, I updated my Dell Optiplex 755 running Win XP Pro SP3 to BIOS A22 some time ago. No problems experienced. It also was not a "Filtered" offering.
No benefits either, as far as I can tell. And Dell's descriptions of what these updates do are deficient and impenetrable. The Dell descriptions on most of the last few BIOS updates have been meaningless.
Up to you. Good luck.

I have 1 general and 1 concrete question related to this topic:
The general one:
May the most recent BIOS (that is "related for my Product" only) be worse than the BIOS that is "filtered for my service tag"?
The concrete one:
I have 2 Dell computers:
Optiplex 755: BIOS A19 is offered for my service tag and BIOS A22 is offered for my product.
Optiplex 780: BIOS A10 is on my motherboard, no BIOS is offered for my service tag and BIOS A15 is offered for my product.
Which BIOSes shall I download?
