Installing Windows 8 64 bit on Precision T3600
Hi,
I am trying install a Windows 8 operating system on a Precision T3600< > which came with a DOS OS. During the installation the operating system cannot find the hard disks and I am stuck.
I have tried to download the hard drive driver from Dell website but is confused on which one to download.
Is it SATA or Storage controller ? I don't seem to a have a Perc card so I guess I don't have the option to create any RAID ?
In the BIOS do I need to choose any specific setting for SATA (ATA or AHCI?
Which driver should I use for the hard disk and can I load it from a USB stick by clicking on the Load Driver button during the OS installation ?
Please advise.
Thanks.
Best Regards,
Abraham

Hi Abraham,
Thanks for the post! Depending on your current config there are a few paths to installed Windows on the system. If no PERC is installed you should be able to use one of the Intel storage Control Drivers here:
Intel Storage Controller Driver
This package provides Intel Storage Controller Driver and is supported on Precision Tx600 Series running the following Windows Operating systems: Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8.More details
Intel Storage Controller Driver
This package provides the driver for Intel C600 SCU Storage Controller and is supported on Precision T series running the following Windows Operating system Windows: Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8 (32/64-bit).More details
For RAID configurations with either H310 or H710 PERC card installed we have the following guide to assist: http://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/19/SLN287084/en
If these options don't help check out this similar thread on the forum here:
