Intel® Core™ i7-980X processor Extreme Edition
I was ready to buy this computer below yesterday morning but did not because I got 5 different answers when I asked Dell customer support on call at 3am cst what processer this was for this computer. Look at the yellow highlighted part of my configuration. I wanted a 6 core and two ladies on click to talk said it was a 4 core, one on phone support said it was a 6 core, one didnt say or didnt know what core it was she just said it was the lastest and greatest. And one said it was Dells version of a 6 core that intel built just for them. Here are the specs for Intels processor that I was hoping it was. Is there anybody here or anybody I can call who knows and that i can understand and who can understand me that can tell me this is an Intel 6 core processor? And if so why dont the specs match Intels specs? Please help.

The highlighted cpu is indeed a 6 core cpu with hyperthreading. I'm also somewhat confused as to why Dell or yourself would spec out 8G of ram instead of 6 or 12? This cpu is best suited to opererate in Tri-Channel mode. It will operate just fine with 8G's but only in dual channel mode. Just so you are aware of the fact is all. Good Luck. It looks to be a good system except for the ram.

Thank you so much for the fast reply. I wonder why Dell has the Cache listed at 8MB? Did not know that about the ram. I will change that before ordering. Thanks so much for your help.
