I was getting Aero fine so the graphic controller I have does support it but it may have gotten corrupted? I'm not sure how to uninstall and reinstall if anyone can help with that?
To be honest, I haven't tried it although some of the machines in my collection have it. I always used budget video cards like the 6450 instead. I managed to get one 6450 for under $20 after rebate, if that helps.
That's weird, because the old nVidia 6150-chipset machines I used early in the Windows 7 era had no problem with Aero.
Usually that indicates a driver issue. In that case, I'd download and install the latest drivers from Intel, even if their online advisor stated they were current.
I did download and install a Win 7 driver but that gave me no display at all. I downloaded the current Vista driver from Dell and that didn't change anything. Any other suggestions?
If the latest Intel drivers don't work, I'd suggest a discrete video card, like the Sapphire 6450, on sale for about $25 after a mail-in rebate.
The 6450, besides being easier to configure, is a lot faster than the Intel graphics, has full support for HD video decoding and supports dual monitors.
Does it support DVI and VGA? I have a e-GEForce 6200 LE that I can pull out of an older PC but it needs a 300 watt or greater power supply. I'm not sure if the INspiron 530 has a 300, it might be 250. Can anyone tell me?

The 6200 will work, but it's an ancient design. The 6450 has DVI, native HDMI and VGA.

Problem is solved - I uninstalled KB2670838. No need to add new video card.
