That seems like a drastic step to take so quickly. Before doing that I would visit the printer manufacturer's site and look for a possible download of the .inf file from there.

If it's an .inf file that is contained within Windows you can replace it from a Windows CD. If, on the other hand, it came with the software that accompanied the printer, you will have to have that software to reinstall it. If you give the name of the file, it will be easier to provide specific help.

I used the software for the printer to try and reinstall it and that's when I got the unable to install because of invalid INF file.
Guess I will "geeve 'um" and reinstall Windows.
