Is this hard drive failure?

 I have an XPS 9100 desktop. When I start my computer it goes to a black screen. I am prompted to either launch a start up repair (recomended)  start windows normally. At first the repair always worked and starting windows normally would usually work as well. now when I am prompted if I choose start windows normally it goes back to the first screen to prompt me again. When I launch the repair it loads windows files and goes to either the blue screen of death (this is what usually happens) or it starts the repair and a min or to into the repair it goes to the blue screen and I have to turn of the computer. please tell me if you have had this problem and what the error is or what you think it is.
