Keyboard failure message
I have an Inspiron 546 desktop which I recently upgraded to Windows 7 OS Home Premium using Dell free upgrade. I had the basic Dell wired keyboard and mouse which all worked fine after upgrading. Recently I unplugged both to use briefly on an old computer. When I replugged into my Inspiron and restarted I got the message:-
American Megatrends
Keyboard failure
Press F2 to run SETUP
Press F1 to load default values and continue
I decide to fit wireless a Microsoft Wireless keyboard and mouse which work fine except that I still get the above message every I start. Does anybody know what I should do to stop this message holding up the start sequence.
Thanks,Rod Fletcher

Start a new post instead of answering another post and include your model computer and operating system. Also explain what problem you are having and what you mean by media center keyboard. Then someone might be able to help.

Hello,
This seems to be flaw in DELL bios setup. It prevents booting process when keyboard is not plugged into USB physically. Bios is different from model to model.
I would recommand you to look for each option in bios and allow booting process without keyboard hardware.
I have 2 desktops and 2 had same issue. Bios options were completely different. Botton line is you need to find option in Bios to allow computer to boot without keyboard.

I have the same problem, I've tried 2 different keyboards and neither has worked, and i can't press F2 or F1 because the keyboard has failed. I can't access the bios to find a way around it as Dells wont boot whilst plugged in to an LCD TV. It has to be plugged in afterwards.
-EDIT-
I got round it buy booting with an old keyboard and then plugging in the new one. Not sure if this helps at all.
