Line-In for Sound Blaster Live Value (WDM)

Greetings,

I want to record old LPs onto my hard drive for recording onto CD-R.  I have the necessary connectors but am having difficulty determining the "line-in" jack on my sound card.  I have an OEM Creative Sound Blaster Live!Value (WDM) sound card.  The users guide at the Creative site shows a diagram that doesn't correspond to what I'm seeing on the back of my card.

I'm seeing these colored holes from left-to-right:

black, olive (speakers), pink (microphone), blue, and yellow.   The users guide at the Creative site shows only 4 holes, I have 5.   I understand I can use the microphone input, but I'd rather not have to constantly interchange the plugs.   Can someone please help?

The blue jack is the Line In jack for your sound card.

Connecting the turntable directly to your computer may not be ideal (due to impedance differences), as turntables usually require that their signal be passed through the Phono stage of a receiver first.

If the turntable is connected to a receiver, you may connect the Tape Out of the receiver to the Line In on the sound card, set the receiver to the Phono input, and record from the turntable in that manner. This should ensure proper line level signals reaching the sound card from the turntable.

Thank you, Cody.  That's exactly what I had planned to do.   While we're on the subject, could you tell me what the black and yellow holes correspond to?

The yellow jack is the Digital Out, for connection to a receiver with a SPDIF or Dolby Digital connector. The black output is the Rear/Surround Speaker output; most 4- or 5-speaker sets designed for computers have cables that will attach to this connector as well as the olive connector (the Front/Stereo Speaker output).
