* Does this issue also occur in safemode?
* Restart the computer
* At the first beep (older systems) or on the blue Dell screen (new systems), tap the F8 key (do not hold it down)
* At some point, the Advanced Options menu will appear
* Scroll to and select Safe Mode [press the Enter key]
* At the operating system listing [press the Enter key]
* Windows will start in Safe Mode. Close any boxes that may open, just get to the desktop and check the mouse
Let me give you some more information by what I mean as erratic. It may help. When I move the mouse north, it goes northeast, move it west, it goes southwest, move it north, it goes north, and move it south, it goes south. The speed with which I move the mouse has a effect on what happens, i.e., the slower I move it, the more it does not move in the correct direction. The faster I move the mouse, the more it goes in the correct direction. I never had this problem when it as new.
Do you have any other suggestions? What about having it replaced under warranty and how do I do that?
Yes. First the original mouse pad that came with my computer. Next just the hard surface of the table, which seemed a little better, but still no good. Then a plain sheet of white paper and last a new mouse pad. Still the same problems. Chris, what about just aking Dell to replace the mouse under warranty?
