Max Resolution Unavailable in GPU - E177FP

I recently installed a Gigabyte Windforce 3GB NVidia GeForce GTX 1060 OC graphics card in my system running Win7 64.

The primary display is a Dell 2209WFP. It is connected to the graphics card via DVI.  The secondary display is a Dell E177FP.  The native resolution of this panel is 1280x1024.  The card does not have a VGA connector, so the display is connected to the DisplayPort via a DisplayPort>VGA converter.

The secondary display is only working at 1024x768.  I've checked in the Display properties of the Control Panel and in the NVidia Control Panel and there is no option to set a higher resolution.

Thoughts appreciated.

Thanks.

If you have tested/verified that the E177FP does 1280x1024 on another computer, then I would look to the converter as the culprit on this system. I doubt that a new video card is defective. You could also try an HDMI to VGA cable.

I should also note that I have tried setting a custom resolution in the NVidia control panel to 1280x1024 but text and images are soft/blurry after doing so.

The card has the following ports

2x DVI-D

1x DisplayPort

1x HDMI

This is the DisplayPort>VGA adapter, www.newegg.ca/.../Product.aspx

The only other cable is the VGA cable that came with the display.

The main display is connected to one of the DVI ports with the cable that came with the monitor.  I got the name of the main display wrong, as well.  It's the 2209 WA.

List all of the video out ports on the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060. Link to the exact DP to VGA converter you are using and then list all the other cabling used to connect the monitors.

You have to tune and enable clear type and 1280 x 1024 needs to be 75Hz for the E177FP  since the 10 series does not have VGA you have to use DISPLAY PORT to VGA adapters.

As noted in my original response, a DisplayPort to VGA adapter is being used.

Adjusting the ClearType settings makes zero difference.

I suspect it may be a problem with the adapter.  I suspect the wrong one may have been sent.  The adapter I bought is supposed to support up to FHD.  To me, that should mean that the max resolution of the E177FP should be visible in the display resolution properties.  If the adapter is defective, or if it is the wrong adapter (i.e., sent by mistake, or packaged incorrectly) then all possible resolutions may not be visible in the display properties.  Does that make sense?

The monitor worked fine at the native resolution with my previous GPU and a direct VGA connection.

I picked up an HDMI>VGA adapter this morning and it works, so it does appear the issue is with the first adapter.

The one that worked  HDMI to VGA is the one of interest.

Not the one that does not meet stated specifications.

The adapter is linked in the 4th post in this thread.

It would be helpful for others if you gave the brand of adapter and where you got it from.  Since the Pascal 10X0 cards drop VGA this will come up again.
