Memory upgrade for a XPS One 2710 Dimension Desktop

My Dell has 8 GB memory, direct from Dell.   I would like to go to 16 GB.

Just checking to make sure that I need to order ONE of these....

Dell 8 GB Certified Replacement Memory Module for Select Dell Systems -1600MHz

I want to make sure that the computer came originally with ONE 8 GB, and that I need one more for 16 GB.   (And not that the computer came originally with TWO 4 GBs.)

Yes, I can take the back off, but I would prefer to wait until I have the 8 GB RAM module in hand before doing that.

Thanks,

Clark

Dimensions were discontinued years ago. XPS One 2710 is the full name. You should not buy anything without checking the specs of your model. No xps models have only one chip of ram or just one slot. Memory is installed in pairs. Your computer has 2 dimm slots with 4gb in each--no empty slots. You would have to buy 2 chips of 8gb. very expensive. Crucial has the chips here--

You probably don't need any more memory than what you have. Save the money. 8gb is fine for your model.

Mary,

Thanks for reply and info.

I got a "Page Not Found" error on your link.   So, I went through the Crucial "Advisor Tool" and got this.

CT3371297 - 8GB DDR3 PC3-12800 Unbuffered NON-ECC 1.35V 1024Meg x 64
$83.99

The reason I am looking for more memory is that I very often get the Blue Circle of Death.
