I'm using Micron PC133 ram in my 4100 with no problems. As a matter of fact Micron is one of Dell's suppliers. I'd suggest you try each DIMM separately to confirm they aren't damaged and carefully inspect the memory sockets on your motherboard to be sure there are no deformed connection fingers. BTW did you try the memory from your generic system on the 4100?

Hi

I'm not sure if this will help you, what's your OS if it's Wme then only 512mb is supported and Micron RAM is the best. Just my 1/2 cents worth.

Yeah, that's odd... The Dell I purchased came w/ 1 strip of 256MB RAM..., when I placed another 256MB chip and booted, and it never registered the new bank. I then switched over and it recognized the original RAM and not the new one... This new RAM works fine on my generic system...

So, on my generic system (which has 2 chips of 256RAM each), I took both the chips out and placed them in the Dell and got the same result. Whereby, only one socket was recognized at a time... Someone told me that these Dells only use Generic RAM and not Micron RAM... This is really frustrating...

I'll try upgrading the ROM and see if that works... Any other suggestions... Thanks, for the help thus far... :)

Not sure if this pertains to your problem, but take a look.

So if I understand this correctly...
If you install only the new Micron Dimm, your computer doesn't boot up?

Hi,

Someone gave you incorrect information. Dell installs and sells Micron RAM. Crucial is the retail outlet for Micron. Dell systems are known to puke on cheap and/or no name RAM.
I can only guess that your Micron RAM must have been just micron chips put together by a third party. Where did you buy it?

Hi,

Is the Micon RAM you are trying, listed for your system?
Where did you buy this?
