Midtown Madness 1 and 2 Problems

I know this place isn't Microsoft, but i might as well try considereing I can't find any help there.
I own Midtown Madness 1 and 2 (yes I love to race cars, I have the whell adn all) and recnetly things have started to act weird. About a 3 weeks ago, I was in the middle of a race on Midtown madness 1 using Windows 98SE when the computer came up with an error message. I closed the restarted the Computer, and tried to play it, but just before it got to the screen where you choose between Multiplayer and Single race, it stops running and puts me back on my desktop. It turns of the sound even though the speakers are on.You have to restart to make the souind work again.
2 days ago i was playing Midtown Madness 2 with Windows ME, when the computer came up with an error message. I did the same as I did with Midtown Madness 1 and restarted the PC, but this time the sound stays on after it stope working just before the screen which shows you who made the game. Can anyone help me please?

Thank you

Nick

Have both and both are on one PC with Win98SE and one with ME. Which video card and driver are you using? I had same problem with my T600R. Sound kept playing while PC froze up. Problem was solved by freeing up PCI slot number one. AGP and PCI slot 1 share IRQ's and the video card has a very hard time sharing when it is pushed during game playing. Will this solve your problem?

T600R / WIN98SE/ 256 Meg ECC / 20 Gig WD 7200 RPM / 15 Gig WD 5400 RPM / Promise ATA/66 / V770D TNT2 Ultra with Diamond 3.68 Drivers (Very Stable) / SB Live Value / Kingston KNE100TX PCI Network Card / Adaptec 2910 SCSI PCI / HP 5P Scanjet Scanner / HP 94C Printer / MDP3880W Aztech modem replaced by a Zoom 2990 USB V90 Modem (best decision yet) / PC Power & Cooling 300 Watt Power Supply (Noisy but powerfull)
