Miracast Support - Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter
I have the latest Dell wireless drivers installed which were supposed to add Miracast support according to the notes. However my system will not "see" my brand new Microsoft Wireless Display device either through the Project add or by directly going to devices and clicking Add Device. It is seen by my Dell XPX 12. What gives? And what do I need to do?

I am having the exact same problem with same hardware. Very frustrating. When I try to connect I get an error message that my TV display is not discoverable.
Thanks,

I intentionally bought my LG TV for the Wi-Di/Miracast functionality and the Venue Pro 8. I got them to connect once last Spring but nothing since. I've been researching and updating/re-installing drivers with varying results.
I tried this today which worked right away but now, back to the same hit and miss.
From the Charms bar, select Search and type 'windows firewall' then select 'Allow an app through Windows Firewall'. I the list I found 'Connect to a Network Projector' was unchecked across the line. Click 'Change settings' and then check all the boxes for that row. There's also a setting for 'WiFi Direct Network Discovery' that was already enabled but, worth checking.
I'm gonna restart and see if anything changes. The more I think about it however, it seems to be a device driver issue from within Windows 8 setup. Wondering if there's a way to get device drivers from LG and setup through a standard install process.

XPS 12 2-in-1 Ultrabook™ and Tablet is not a microsoft Surface Tablet nor is it An Android Tablet. The Display must have the microsoft adapter below or a Miracast compatible receiver. The drivers do not appear to have been updated in over a year.
It must also be HDCP compliant. This is not a dell product and Not supported here.
Miracast protocol allows you to stream the PC/tablet/phone screen to HDTV and is built-in with Windows 8.1 (preview). To meet the Miracast specification, the device must transmit H.264 encoded video and at least 2-channel Linear Pulse-Code Modulation encoded audio.
You can use these device installed Windows 8.1 to wirelessly share screen:
Surface Pro, Samsung ATIV Smart PC Pro, PC computer with Intel HD Graphics 4000, Iris Pro (5200)
Compatible Windows 8.1 Miracast receiversNote: First you need to connect it to the power cord, then an HDMI/USB cable from the unit to HDTV

* Netgear PTV3000-100NAS Push2TV
The product is portability and works flawlessly with Windows 8.1.
Wirelessly display content in up to 1080p HD video resolution.
It also works with Intel WiDi pre-installed devices.
* Panasonic DMP-BDT230 Smart Wi-Fi 3D Blu-Ray Player

It supports Fast Booting and Loading, and DVD/CD/JPEG playback.
Easy to set up, hold remote and get great picture quality.
But it doesn’t have built-in storage and the menu system is poor.
* D-Link MainStage TV Adapter for Intel Wireless Display (DHD-131)

I have update software version of the mainstage and intel widi, and everything works without issues.
Trying get full 1080p youtube videos from my tablet to TV’s big screen and it works really well.
The audio over HDMI cable is pleasant suprise.
* Actiontec ScreenBeam Pro

It is a Wireless Display Receiver for WiDi Laptops and Miracast Devices, even legacy devices with a USB dongle.
* Rocketfish Miracast Video Receiver
You need to upgrade firmware to 2.0 version to get it working.
