Monitor upgrade possible?

I currently have the standard Dell 17" monitor, the E771a. I would very much like the 19" P991 monitor.

Is it possible to return my 17" and claim its value off the price of the 19" model?

Or do I have to buy the 19" monitor aswell and then have this 17" one lying around doing nothing?

I have had my 8100 P4 1.4GHz system about 4 months now. I did not upgrade at the time of purchase because I thought the 17" monitor would be enough, but I want a bigger one.

Any ideas/thoughts would be very helpful.

Thanks

Allan

This is a user helping user forum. For the quickest answer, call Dell Customer Service. I believe you have 30 days from the invoice date, but you need to call.

It never hurts to have a spare monitor.

One note you may find interesting. Sony makes some of the monitors for Dell. At the end of the warranty period, Dell will no longer service those monitor, nor will Sony! At that point you are stuck. This saga showed up in the Customer Service area recently when a customer had a 21” monitor fail at 13 months.

I have not had any problems, but my next Dell will be without a monitor.
