Motherboard Swap from XPS 435MT to ???

Hi all.

This is my first post!

I have a Dell XPS 435MT.  I am happy with it.

I upgraded the video card and everything is working well.

But...

I need a PCI-Express 2.0 slot for a SATAIII RAID Controller I purchased.

The 435MT only has PCI-Express 1.0 which is limiting my hard drive speed to 50% of what it should be.

I was wondering if I could possible get a "newer" Dell motherboard that actually has a PCI-e 2.0 slot.

I'd hate to have to buy a new computer.

I'd also hate to lose 50% of my hard drive speed.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Can't give you a specific answer, but here are some things to consider:

1. What form factor is the current motherboard (eg, ATX, custom)? Any replacement motherboard will have to be the same form factor, and presumably have the same mounting holes etc.

2. Dell frequently uses a custom connector between the motherboard and the front panel. The pin-outs for that connector are not usually public knowledge. So any replacement motherboard will have to be compatible with the existing front panel connector.

3. You might have to reinstall Windows on the hard if the new motherboard uses a different chipset driver etc...
