Motherboard question

I have a Dell Studio XPS 435T / 9000 and would like to upgrade my processor.  I need to know what the name of my motherboard is though before I can find the right processor.  The desktop was built back in 2009.  The current processor is a Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67ghz.

Can anyone tell me what processors will fit the motherboard.

Regards...

The latest Core series do not fit.  Its a DELL Motherboard.  Bios should be updated to latest BEFORE Changing CPU.

The 3.2 ghz is the most affordable,  but will I see a faster increase?  Secondly, Could I buy a different motherboard motherboard for a more powerful processor?  If so, I'm assuming I will need to buy different types of ram sticks.

If a regular ATX motherboard fits, you could install anything you want. Yes, you'd need new RAM.

Don't be fooled by the MHZ myth.  MHZ does not equate to gobs of speed increase.

Newer 4th Generation Core I7 cpus are faster because of a faster front side bus and ram as well as improvements to the cache and INTEL video structure as well as the PCI-E bus and chipset speeds.

Going from a 920 to a 975 is about 13 to 20 percent speed increase.

Getting a newer Dell Like a Precision T3500 would be more of a speedbump than the 975 and cost about the same amount of money.
