I have the same problem! It started after I reinstalled winxp, and my Audigy 2 soundcard. However, presently all works well, but it is bugging me. I think my problem maybe the cable from my modem to the (tad) connection on my soundcard, which maybe the culprit in my case, but I use broadband so it is irrevelant I think? I have tried the Dell resource cd,and reinstalled my soundcard several times to no avail. If you find a solution please post.
Hi,
I had the same problem with an older Audigy.
Solution: download newest drivers from
Creative, shutdown computer, remove soundcard, start and shutdown again computer, install soundcard, boot again.
Windows finds new hardware on boot. If you have the Creative pack, click on "Cancel" and install the Creative drivers.
My soundcard works good presently, and I have the latest drivers, but are you saying your remedy may fix the multimedia audio problem.( question mark next to "other devices" multimedia audio)
Well after reinstalling the drivers from the Dell Dimension Resource CD and the Soundblaster Live! CD and several emails and a phone call to Dell that did not fix the problem I found the driver myself and fixed the problem (no thanks to Dell). The driver is located on the CD that says "emuzed" this is for Dell's Movie Studio.
I hope that this will help someone else that is having the same problem.

I never found out what Windows thought it was missing... But the question mark is gone now.

To reinstall the Soundblaster Live! audio driver follow this KB article. http://support.dell.com/us/en/kb/document.asp?DN=1072613
After the installation - The ? in device manager should be gone.
