NVIDIA Control Panel > Performance > Profiles
How the heck do you get the profiles to work in the Performance area of the NVIDIA control panel!? I can get it to adjust the speed of the fans to run at one specific speed, but I can't figure out how to get the custom device rules to work? I want to make the fans on the graphics cards and H2C unit ramp up the RPM's sooner based on the device temps. I created custom device rules for both, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to automatically load them up at boot?

My CPU fan automatically increases as the temp goes up .. Started working wsomewhere around the 1.07 BIOS install. I use Riva tuner for the GPU fans.

Mine do too, but not until the CPU temps approach 80C which is way too hot! I want the RPM's to increase when the CPU's hit 60C.

See your point, my fan starts increasing around 60 and with prime 95 running never lets it get above 67-68.

The CPU & GPU Device Rules that I created are not listed when I click on the "Profiles" link. I have only two profiles to choose from. Either sysdflt.nsu or userdflt.nsu. The sysdflt file is the default profile and the userdflt only contains changes made by moving the slider (See graphic above) value. Neither of these profiles contain the changes I made and saved in the Device Rules.
If I move the slider to 100% and save the profile, then tell the control panel to load the userdflt profile at windows start up, the fans jump up to 100% when windows starts and stays there no matter what. If I set the slider at 25% amd save the profile the fans stays at 25% at Windows start and never increases with system temp either.
The NVIDIA control panel gives you the ability to make and save a custom RPM slope under the Device Rules, but it doesn't load that slope as part of the userdflt profile. I can't find anywhere in the control panel where I can call up the Device Profiles I've created.

try following these steps.
Open Nvidia control panel
click on Profile Policies
Click on Load this profie. note profile is highlighted click on the word profile and select the profiel you want to make the custom rule with.
Select the option you want in the middle box then click on the right arrow. you should see a sentance in the right hand box with a descriptionthen click accept.
For example to load a profiel called xyxz a boot up you would
click on word profile in the load this profile and select the xyxz profile.
then click on the action The system first stars windows then the right arrow. Then in the righhand box it will say "load xyxz profile when the system first stars" click accept

Still no joy.
We must be using 2 different version of the NVIDIA Control panel. The version I have is v1.5.2400.14 and to save a profile you don't navigate via File> Edit> Profile>
Saved my profile using the Profile > Save option from the top tool bar and it overwrote the sysdflt.nsu profile with a file entitled nvsutil.nsu and it also erased my custom Device Rules.

Create your profile with all the changes you want.
On the top menu bar you should have File> Edit> Profile> etc..
Click on Profile and select Save. A Standard window safe file box will open give your profile a unique name and click save.

Curious my system reports version 1.5.2400.10 and is the Nvidia ESA version 6.02.
However i have been using Ntune/ESA since late 2006 when i first got the system and the steps i listed have always been the same. especially the saving part. are you selecting the save button on the device settings page?
When you go to the top menu bar and click on profie and select save you should get a savefile pop up window. like this

I do get a pop-up just as you've depicted in your post. I was only commenting that you don't select File > Edit > Profile to get there. It's simply Profile > Save.
Regardless of this, it's still not saving or executing the custom temp slopes I create in the Device Rules portion of the Device Settings.

Oh I can save a new profile just fine. Thing is the new profile doesn't incorporate the changes I specify in the Device Rules, actually it ends of erasing them most of the time.
This stinks.... I thought for sure I had found a way to overcome the slow H2C fan speed ramp up rate...

Went back and reread you orginal post. It wont work. never has. Others have tried before and have no success. Ntune(or ESA) which ever you perfer has never really done much for anyone, on our systems. About the only thing that has had some success is doing a bit of overclocking. Why you cannot save a profile and reuse it still puzzles me as i created one last night and it worked for me.
I believe this program is more designed for full feature boards where you have lots of options in the bios.
IF you want to control your GPU fans you are better off using RiviaTuner. It has a bit of a learning curve but others seem to perfer this over ntune.

According to the manual on page 14/15 the device rules are automatically incorparated into the profile. When you load the profile the device rules are supposed to be used. Maybe this just doesn't work.
