NVIDIA Geforce MX 420 and DirectX 9.0
I'm trying to run a new game. My system seems to meet requirements but when I try to run it I get a message that says "Failed to find any DirectX 9.0 compatible graphics adapters in this system." DirectX 9.0 is installed without problem. I don't know what else to do. As far as I can tell, I have NVIDIA Geforce MX 420. I don't know what I would need from NVIDIA, if anything. Is it just not compatible together? The game requirements listed NIVIDIA GeForce2 or greater as a requirement, along with 32 MB or more memory. Could I need more memory? I don't know how to find how much I have. Any insight would be great. Also, I couldn't send or pull up a list of my system status (memory, drivers, and stuff). Please help. I'm desperate.

Welcome to the Dell Community Forum (DCF).
The Geforce 4 MX 420 doesn't support anything higher than directx 8.1.

It's probably a driver issue. The FAQ on the top of this forum should have instructions for how to uninstall and install the newest drivers that you grab off of www.nvidia.com
Also of course you need Windows to be patched up, Direct X 9 installed if it isn't, that sort of thing.
