Need Help Downloading an Ethernet Driver
Hoping that someone can give me a hand. I'm trying to download an Ethernet Control Driver for a Dell Dimension 3000 from my computer onto a flash drive to install it onto my mother's computer. Here's the problem, Every time I start the download it will only download onto my computer and does not give me the choice to download it from my desktop onto the flash drive. Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

Are you using Dell's download manager?
It's best not to use the Dell Download Manager for the driver.
Reading the Wiki HERE and the post by Alexandra_P HERE should help.
Download the driver to a folder, you need to create on the PC you are using. After all the driver is downloaded, connect the thumb drive to a USB port and transfer the folder to the drive, using the 'Sent To' Menu.
Note. Do not use the Dell download manager, use download them directly the browser.
Connect the USB drive to the PC you wish to install the drivers on, go to My Computer [Vista/Windows 7, Computer], click the USB drive to locate the folder, open the folder and install the driver.

1) Did you choose the first option to use the Dell Download Manager? If so, that's part of the problem - it installs an application that controls where your files go and sets a cookie to make it the default option. Go into your browser, clear all the cookies (or just the Dell cookies), uninstall the Dell Download Manager from Add/Remove (if it's listed), then go back to the download page, click Download, but choose the SECOND option (browser download). Then you can choose where you want the file to go.
2) If you already have the file downloaded on your PC, doesn't matter where it is - just cut or copy it to the flash drive. You can move it around just like any other file until you're ready to actually install it.
3) Just in case: if you need the driver because the 3000's just been reformatted, you have more work to do to get all the drivers in correctly. Link below on the correct order - the first 2 (system software and chipset) are important to get in first to make sure all your hardware is correctly identified by Windows. Order of the rest of the drivers doesn't matter so much:

EDIT: Bev, how'd you sneak in there like that? Geez, usually I notice these things, but not this time.....
