Network Connection Timed Out

When connecting to certain sites (XM Streaming and iTunes Store) I revceive the message "The Network Connection has Timed Out". This is only happening on my Dell Desktop Computer which is running Windows XP. I beleive the issue is directly related to the Intel PRO/100 VE Network Connection, so I attempted to update the driver by visiting both the Dell and Intel websites, and after downloading the latest my driver version is still version 7.1.12.0 relase date 2/10/04. I tried to manually replace these files and still no luck.

Computer currently connects wirelessly to my router, but in the past connected directly to the DSL modem and still had the same problem.

Can anyone help me confirm that the problem is with the network adapter and if so that my drivers are not up to date(then how to fix).

All suggestion are greatly appreciated.

you can check your internet connection properties to see if there is a time out setting, and or make sure your power saverer is turned off in the properties on the connection itself in the configure option next to the box that shows the Intel PRO/100 VE Network Connection

I have searched the internet connection settings for a time out setting and have yet to find anything. The power management was checked and is not in power save mode.

Problem still persists.
