New CPU Will BIOS recognize VT-x support?
I have to make an upgrade to my CPU to be able to take advantage of Intel's VT-x technology for virtual machines. My Current setup is a Inspiron 530s with the Foxconn G33m02 MOBO and an Intel Dual Core E5200 CPU. I would like to purchase a Intel Core 2 Duo E8600 since it does support VT-x. My question is...
Once the new CPU is installed will my BIOS (Phoenix Award Dell 1.0.18) recognize that the chipset supports this and provide an option to enable it in the BIOS? Obviously, since my current ship doesn't support it, this option is no where to be found in the BIOS menu. The chip is not a huge investment but I have to have VT-x to run VMware Workstation 11 for a class I'm taking this semester. Any info on this subject would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks!!!
