No CPU temperature sensor?
I have a Dell Dimension 8200 with a P4 3.06Mhz HT, Intel 850 Chipset. The BIOS does not provide CPU temperature information. I also tried several hardware scanners (PC Wizard, HWMonitor,Lavalys Everest,SiSandra, DrHardware,SpeedFan) and none detect CPU temperature, only hard disk temperature is reported. So my question is: Did my system come with a CPU temperature sensor that is no longer working, or does my system lack a CPU temperature sensor? Thanks

There are no sensors on most of the older Dell's including your 8200. You would have to use an external monitor with a probe. This used to come up when the 8200's were relatively new and back then the reference was to a Thermatake (brand) external display and sensor probe.

SpeedFan (free at www.almico.com) will report hard drive temps on most Dell systems, but it can only adjust fan speeds on some Dell laptops. It will also report GPU temps for many different graphics cards (eg, nvidia) too. You can set it up to beep when a temp you select exceeds that limit for the hardware it's able to monitor.
