Nvidia Quadro FX1000 dual display problem

I just formatted my harddrive and try to reinstall all the software.  I installed Windows XP Pro, Chipset from Dell, Direct 9.0b and Nvidia driver for FX1000 from Dell.  But when I go to Display property in Control Panel, it couldn't display 2 monitors option.  It only display 1 ! I updated the driver with the current version from Dell website, even from Nvidia support, it still couldn't display the second monitor.  It only gave me 1 display.  I clicked the option to have dual view, still couldn't have 2 displays.  I have 19 inch Gateway CRT monitor and Samsung 173P LCD panel.  The only output that works is the first output, not the other one.  Is it something wrong with the driver or the card itself ?  Please help me.

1. shut down the computer

2. plug in the external display and turn it on

3. start up the computer

4. display properties >> settings >> advanced >> Nvidia tab (note: make sure monitor 1 is selected - DO NOT select 'monitor 2')

5. Check to see if 'nvidia display mode' is available, if it is, click ok, then you should be able to go back and click 'extend my desktop onto this monitor' and it should work.

If it doesn't, your problem is different to the one I had... :-) Good luck

The problem is that in the display setting, I only have 1 monitor, not 2 monitors as usual.  that's why I couldn't go to 2nd monitor in the second port.  I plug an analog monitor to the 2nd port, it didn't display anything.  Is it something wrong with the video card ?

Sounds like you need to check your BIOS settings: push F2 (I think) as the machine starts up, and look for some options to do with video - perhaps enabling ports, etc.

I've chosen the option to AGP instead of Auto and still didn't work.  But why I need to change the option in the BIOS if before I formatted the harddrive it works ?

Did your LCD monitor come with its own driver? There may be some settings you need to activate there. If it worked before you formatted your hard drive it seems to be a driver issue with either the monitor or the video card. Other than that - I'm really not sure...

Thank you for all your support, guys.  I've found the problem.  It's so simple.  I need to turn off and on the LCD monitor.  Then it will straight aways choose the connection that I want (Digital) !!
