Old Dell Desktops???

Question

I pretty much know nothing about computers. I'm looking for a computer to play my old 1990s/early 200s PC games. I don't even know the name of an old dell model, let alone where to get one.

Are there any new Dell laptops./desktops that can play old PC games?

And if not, what are the names of some old dell computers that can?

When I tried to install my old PC game onto my new dell laptop it said something about a 64-bit and no being able to do it.

Any help?

Hi SabrinaClarke,

You may try running the game in compatibility mode for older OS and see if the system is able to run it. You may refer to the steps below for running the game in compatiblity mode :

Right Click the game exe file and select Properties -- > Compatibility Tab.
Select the older OS compatible with game from the list in the following image.

Click Apply -- > OK.
Right Click the file and select the 'Run As Administrator' option to install.

If the issue persists, please share the name of the game you are trying to run on your system. Will take it further from there.

Doesn't it have to be installed to do this? It won't even install it.

Emulation is the favored technology for playing old games, so new a new Dell desktop and laptop would be a good choice.

16-bit applications won't run directly under 64-bit Windows, and that might be the cause of your troubles. However, virtualization may be a solution: if you have Windows 8 Professional, you have access to Hyper-V, Microsoft's virtualization technology (which will run older, 16-bit-compatible operating systems like Windows XP and Windows 98).

Please try running the game setup file in compatibility mode and installing the game to see if that helps.
