Old Teac Card Reader Problem

Hi,

Haven't been by for awhile.  I see the forum changed again.  Seems to work better.  Anyway a couple years ago I researched and posted question about my Dell E520 desktop Teac 13-1 card reader.  I never did the firmware or driver updates.  But now I have a 8gb SD card and want to finally update them.  Been reviewing the old threads and my question is....

I downloaded both the Driver R176587.exe and Firmware R176603.exe  WHICH DO I DO FIRST?  I saw a post by Dell-Chris which said to do the driver first.  But wouldn't it make more sense to do the firmware first?

Christine

PS how do I put my signature on here???

Hi Volvogirl1,

It doesn't make much difference but if Chris said to do the driver first, that's what I would do.

Thanks for the reply.

Ok I did the driver first.  Haven't done the fireware yet.  2 questions

1.  It came up with a box asking for a file....

TEACico2.dll on USB Card Reader Driver Source Disk #1 is needed.

Copy files from: ________ (browse)

I went into windows explorer and found it under C:Windows\System32 so I put that in.  Was that a new one or my original one or does it make a difference?

Then I got a whole bunch of Found New Hardware Wizards Not Passed messages (hit continue anyway).  I suppose for all of the kinds of cards.

2.  When it was done I went to the Device Manage and looked and it still says the same driver as before:

date 7-1-2001

version 5.1.2535.0

Should it be a different later one now?  The Driver support page I printer says Release date 1/16/2008 Version 4.08, A03.

It does not sound to me like the driver update worked.

Ok, so you should have downloaded a file called R176587.EXE. Then you should have extracted the files to  C:\DELL\DRIVERS\R176587.  Do you see that file in the folder where you extracted the files?

Nope.  All I have in C:\Dell\Drivers\R176587  is   Imgr32b.exe

Thanks for sticking with me.  No hurry.
