Optiplex 7440 AIO Second Monitor not working
I have a new Optiplex 7440 AIO and a Dell monitor 1708FPt. I am using a VGA/HDMI cable to connect to the only HDMI port on my Optiplex. When I try and detect monitor under Display Settings it says it cannot detect another monitor. Please let me know how to remedy this.

I wish to confirm your statement, the 7440 AIO has 2 HDMI port 1 output and 1 Input.
Please confirm you are connected to the Output HDMI. Also you say VGA/HDMI? if you are converting from HDMI to VGA then this also can be an issue as the EDID information may not be making back to the AIO via the cable. if your Monitor only has a VGA input try going out the Display port with a Dell Display port to VGA connector.

The sticker on the back says OptiPlex 7440 AIO Series. However, there is only one HDMI port. How do I know if this is input or output?
I am, in fact using a VGA/HDMI cable. My (second) monitor has a VGA output and a DVI output. Are you saying I should use an HDMI cable and use an adapter on one end?

Hi Duffman56,
Thanks for posting.
According to the specifications for the 7440, there should be two HDMI ports. Maybe there's several models with different specifications. Could you post a pic of your video ports please? Thanks.

There is an HDMI port and a "Display" port. It is roughly the same size as HDMI, but has one tapered end and one square end (as opposed to the two tapered ends on an HDMI).
Would a Display/VGA cord be the best way to go? Or would it be better to use the DVI on the second monitor?

I'm sorry to say, I only have one HDMI port. It is labeled as HDMI Out, so I'm assuming this is the one I should be using. Regardless, how do I get it to work with my monitor?

Here try this:
AIO 7440 DP out port --> DP to VGA adapter --> VGA to VGA cable --> 1708FP VGA in port

-or
AIO 7440 DP out port --> DP to DVI adapter --> DVI to DVI cable --> 1708FP DVI in port
