Optiplex 790 Shutting Down

Hi everyone,

I have an OptiPlex 790 set up to be remotely connected to using Logmein.  The user may not get to use it for a number of days at a time.  When he attempts to do so, he finds that the PC is off.  The unit seems to either go into hibernation of deep sleep, such that, we are unable to power it up unless someone is physically there.  The point of the matter is, I would like to disable this feature and have it continously running and available to the user.

What steps and options need to be performed to properly disable the features that causes this problem.

Thanks in Advance.

Always include the version of Windows in your posts!

Look for Power Options control panel and disable Sleep and Hibernation. You can probably just set it to turn off the hard drive and monitor after a certain period of time.

You may also have to look in BIOS Setup (reboot and press F2) to see how the power options are set there, if disablling Sleep and Hiberation in Windows doesn't help.

I have users with the same issue.  Windows XP Pro, all settings except monitor set to "Always on", deep sleep disabled in BIOS, WOL enabled in BIOS.  Computer still goes to sleep and users are not able to log in remotely.

Any thoughts?
