Optiplex 790: microphone input low level

Hi,

My compagny is currently switching from Dell Optiplex 780 to Dell Optiplex 790 (around 500 Pc's).

I have an issue with the microphone input level.
The record level is low even with sliders set to maximum value.

"Mic boost" should be enabled on 790 to get the same level as the one I got on 780 with "Mic boost" unchecked.

Audio chipset is different:
- Realtek AC97 on 780
- Realtek ALC269 on 790

Tests have been done on a Windows XP fresh install with the Dell audio drivers (http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/fr/fr/frbsdt1/DriverDetails/DriverFileFormats?DriverId=X5K1K&FileId=2731098915)

 Known issue ? help appreciated.
Thanks,

Best regards,

Daniel,

As this is a corporate system buy, best to contact the Dell sales rep and let them do the leg work to get them working how you want it.

Today when rolling out a few PCs I noticed this issue also with a new Optiplex 790. We are using these PCs for dictation in an ER settings. Has anything been done with this issue?

Mic Level is 100 times lower than Line Level.

You need a Pre Amp or a different audio solution.

All of my Skype or Ventrillio users are recommended to get a Turtle Beach Amigo II.

Plug and play native to windows or OSX.

Known Quality. Doesn't change when your PC changes.
