Optiplex 9020 BIOS update does not run
I have an Optiplex which I am reissuing and checked the BIOS which is currently A07. I have attempted to update to the current (A17) but it does not work.
I have tried:
1. running from a copy used previously on other PCs and located on our LAN
2. copying this to a local disk
3. running from the Del web site
I have run a full (extended?) diagnostics on this PC and found nothing.
What is my next step?

Try the A12 and/or A13 updates.

Thank you.
That's a good point, I now remember, I think, the other PCs had previously been updated to A12.
I will report back. :)

You may need to update to an earlier BIOS version first - 7 to 17 is quite a jump. Click on the "other versions"
www.dell.com/.../advanced
(try A10 -- I seem to remember it's required before subsequent updates can be applied).

OK, successful with the update to A10, although extremely slow. It has, literally, completed about 10 minutes ago. I had started straight after my above post. ;-~
But I am happy I am making progress! Back when complete! :)

Ok! The A10 update worked. I then tried the A17 again but that failed so I tried A14 but that also fails.
Guess I will have to be happy with the A10 version on this particular box as I have spent way too much time on it.
Thank you for the input.

OK. I guess I am going to have to "walk" through the upgrades. This is going to be low on my priority but I will report back on how it goes. :)

In the end I had to walk all the way, i.e. I had to apply every upgrade from A10 through to A17. Time consuming but it is done now.
