Are you getting any beep codes when you attempt to boot?  According to the documentation, that LED error code is indicative of a memory failure.  You've apparently tried removing and reseating the RAM, with no change.  You can't boot to the Diags, so further troubleshooting is impossible.  Presumably, the system is still under warranty.  My suggestion would be to call Support, and let them take it from there.

Thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately I bought this machine through an auction and didnt bother to purchase any warranty with it.

So the lights point to a memory failure?

I think I will just buy a GX270 for the cost of RAM from the same auction and purchase some warrantee this time.I bought an extra 256 RAM stick last month for 120. I can get a GX270 for maybe 250-200.

There are no beeps at all when I try to boot. If I remove the RAM there is beeps. But with the RAM installed in any configuration between factory ram or both in different slots there is no beep but the same lights are on.

What about the power button on the front.  Does it flash amber or does it stay solid green?  Either way I would try reseating the CPU.

The light on the front stays solid green.

I will get some new RAM for it and see if it fixes.

I installed some brand new RAM and there is no change. It still wont boot. I reseated teh CPU also and no change.

Before the trouble started there was a windows XP blue screen error. When I turned the PC off and on again it wouldnt boot any more. I have tried swapping hard drives and no change.

After a chat to the tech help line they thought it was the motherboard. After checking the price it was cheaper to buy some 2 year extended warrantee.

The Dell contractor came to my place and replaced the RAM, Motherboard, Power supply and Video card with new parts. This did not fix my system.

In the end the P4 2.0GHZ CPU was replaced and now the system works well. The CPU was replaced with a P4 2.4GHZ and all the new parts were kept. I think I got a good deal dont you? :)
