Optiplex GX270 memory error

My GX270 will only run with 1048 ram. It has 2 512's. If I put in 2 more 512's I get blue screen of death. I can put 2 - 512's in any of the 4 dimm's but once I put more then 2 sticks I get bsod. I also tried 2-1048's and I also got bsod. The RAM I'm using is DDR PC3200 memory. My Max memory is 4096MB. I've tried 6 different sticks of RAM. All DDR PC3200. They all work great as long as I don't use more them 2 of them. Any idea's ????

Have you checked if there's a newer bios?

Also, which OS are you running? 95/98/ME start having problems with more than 512MB.

I'm using bios revision A07 and my OS is XP Pro. Also the pc won't boot right until it warms up. I start it in the morning and it hangs at the win xp start up screen. I let it sit for 5 mins then reboot again and then I have to use start with last known good start up. Then it gives me a error saying the pc recovered from a serious error. The error says check for driver updates. I think all my drivers are updated. This pc is about 3 years old. Has a new WD 120 hdd and a new ATI 9550 256 MB vid card and a new Silencer 410 Dell-2 410W power supply. Thanks for responding.

GX270's can have many different problems due to the EXPANDING AND LEAKING CAP problem
Have you checked your system board for this problem

Yeah, sort of. I didn't notice anything but that doesn't mean it's not the problem. I'll look again. Thanks !!
