Hello,

If you unplug the drive, does everything work again?

Hello,

I took the hard drive out and nothing worked. I replace the the motherboard and nothing worked; the power power lights and stays amber (yellow) and the only way to turn off is by pulling out the plug.

I unplug external hard drive and everything else from the computer but the power light still does not turn green; it is still amber or yellow.  Its like when a computer is hibernating or sleeping.

Take the top of the pc off and have a good look at the motherboard particularly the capacitors and see if any of them is domed up or burst. I have seen a few of optiplex ranges from GX150 to GX280 have faulty motherbords and when they age then capacitors fail. If capacitors are ok then do the following;

take the battery and the memory out and wait for a minute or two, then reistall them and switch the pc on.

Everything looks normal; no capacitor looks obnormal and I took the memory and battery out. I put them back in after 2 minutes and nothing changes.
