PC loses network connection

I'm in the IT department but this has me stumped.  Every few hours I lose the network connection completely.  It's an Optiplex GX620 with XP Pro on a domain with about 50 PCs.  It's only happening on this PC.  Only logging on and back on restores the connection.  I've tried everything I can think of.
 
- did a release, renew and repair on the network adapter
- replaced the network cable to the PC and changed the port it plugs into
- downloaded and reinstalled drivers
- put another network card in the PC (after disabling the onboard one on BIOS)
- rejoined the domain
- completely deleted and recreated my profile
- verified IP and DNS setting were right
- checked for rough software
 
Could this be a hardware problem on the MB?

It's certainly possible that a bad NIC could cause the symptom you describe, but before I concluded that I'd want to be sure I didn't have an IP conflict on the network with another device knocking you off and reclaiming its IP every so often. Might someone somewhere have set a static IP on a device (e.g., a printer)?

Presuming IP conflict isn't the case, and given the troubleshooting you've done, then I'd say yes, it's a bad NIC and the motherboard needs to be replaced.

I will look into IP conflict.  I thought I would check my IP, write it down, then after I get disconnected again, log back in and see if another device took that IP.  Would that work?
 
Also, I actually put a 3rd party network card in the PC and the problem continues happens.  So if it is a MB problem it must be outside the network card but still somehow related.
 
(This is a very irritating problem having to close all my programs and log back in.  Happens about 3 times a day)

I am also experiencing this type of problem. My company use a RDC which one PC, a GX50, keeps loosing. I've completely reinstalled this particular box twice and 3 different users, using  3 different sockets have all said the same. The connection is lost leaving a live session on the server which means that the user can't log back on until it's disconnected.
 
As with djohnson60618's post a reboot will clear the problem but it could happen a couple of times a day.
 
Could this also be due to an IP clash?
