PCI Express x16 Slot

I have 2 x16 slots on my motherboard, does it matter which slot I plug my graphices card into?

I would rather use the bottom x16 slot as the top x16 slot will block a PCI slot if I have my graphics card in there

I think I put my videocard in the slot closest to the processor as that's usually the one on the Northbridge of the chipset.

Is that the top slot or the bottom slot?

It's the one that's physically closest to the processor. If you're not sure, measure the distance between the PCIe 16x slot and the processor socket. The one that's closest is the one to put the videocard in.
