Playing .mov files

Why can't I play .mov files in quicktime?  I can play them in IExlorer sometimes but they always come out jittery and broken up.  I have downloaded the latest versions of quicktime and quicktime alternative but whenever I try to play a file it'll say "could open the file "soso.mov" because the file was not found."  When I'm looking right at it.  Like I said, I've gotten the latest versions of quicktime player which leads me to believe that the problem is with my computer.  Help?

Sounds to me like you have some software corruption. This does not really have to do with the video of the system. You should try posting to the board for the version of windows installed on your system for more help with this problem. You may need to format and reinstall to cure this problem as it could be related to some other software that is corrupted on the system. If you can not determine the cause of the corruption it is a definite that you will need to format and reinstall. First try uninstalling quicktime in all of it's glory from the system then download and reinstall. If this does not help then you will need to first try making sure that the file is associated with this program and try both opening the file to open the program and opening the program and trying to access the file. You may also want to make sure that the file is in no way corrupted.
