Hmmm,

1st : Never forget to remove the power cord from your PC if you want to install a new card. The power supply is allways working, shutdown is not enough. This could be the reason ....

I would do the following:

remove the power cable.

remove the new card.

Boot the system

OK ??? (If not you'll have a problem)

If ok, shutdown, remove cable

insert new card in a new slot, try to use not the same as before.

boot the system

if it works you can follow the manual from your new card

good luck

Dirk

Hi CG

Plug and Play Configuration Error (Dell BIOS)

The BIOS was unable to configure bus-resource. There may be an interrupt conflict which can't be avoided.

Dell suggests that you remove some of your non-essential cards and see if it goes away. In one case this problem was due to a defective motherboard. the

Device failed to start. Click Update Driver to update the drivers for this device.

On the General Properties tab of the device, click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooting wizard.

Driver installation for the firewire card
1. As Windows 2000/XP OS starts, the "New Hardware Wizard"
will launch, and recognize the IEEE 1394 PCI card as a "Texas
Instruments OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller".
2. Windows OS will automatically install the correct driver and
prompt you to restart your computer. Click "Yes". Installation is
now complete and the IEEE 1394 PCI card will be ready to use
after Windows OS restarts.

Go to Administrative Tools\Services and verify that Plug and Play is set to AUTO run.
